How States are Using the ESSER Set-Aside to Lead on the Road to Recovery September 28, 2022 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM ET Overview: Over the past two years, Congress provided nearly $190 billion for K-12 education through three rounds of funding from the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund. With the deadline to obligate the first set of ESSER funds, from the federal law known as the CARES Act, approaching at the end of September, the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) invites you to reflect on the status of ESSER implementation, learn how state education agencies are leading districts and schools through the COVID-19 pandemic recovery effort, and look to the opportunities ahead. In this webinar, CCSSO will provide an update on how state education agencies are using their 10% ESSER state set-aside, drawing on exclusive data from the COVID Relief Data Project. Through CCSSO’s COVID Relief Data Project, CCSSO is tracking state ESSER spending data to illustrate how state education agencies are leveraging an unprecedented federal investment in K-12 education to lead in this critical moment. Participants will be briefed on the latest ESSER state spending trends and will hear stories from states that are leveraging federal relief funding to bring about an effective and equitable pandemic recovery.
