Summer and Out of School Learning Webinar Series CCSSO in partnership with the National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) and in collaboration with the Wallace Foundation and supported by MetaMetrics, is supporting state education agency leaders to implement a broad vision for equity in summer learning - one that moves beyond remediation/credit recovery and engages more children and youth and community partners to boost academic achievement, social and emotional development goals and influences teaching and learning throughout the year. States will receive guidance and resources on using strong data to develop community system-based strategies for summer learning; information on elevating exemplars of teaching practices; sample policies that promote conditions that support successful summer ecosystems; deepened understanding of advancing quality program standards and positive youth development practices; and ideas to ensure a focus on equity and excellence. High quality after school programs are shown to improve students’ social skills and interpersonal behavior, grades and work habits, and test scores and tend to reduce misconduct and risky behavior.
